Mark Keiser: Leading with Purpose in Every Community

For more than a decade, Superintendent Mark Keiser has been on job sites across the country, leading projects with steady guidance and a boots-on-the-ground perspective. With decades of experience in the trades and controls work before joining McKinstry, Mark brings both technical expertise and a deep appreciation for the people who make projects successful.

Mark began his career in the Marine Corps before serving an additional 26 years in the Air Force Reserve. Alongside his military service, he built a career in fire alarm, pipefitting and controls before moving into management roles at Siemens. Eventually, he found his calling at McKinstry, where he could combine his technical background with his passion for working in the field.

“The field is where I belong: listening, solving problems and making sure everyone has what they need to keep the work moving forward.”

After 15 years of service at McKinstry, Mark retired, but it didn’t last long. Missing the work and the people, he returned part-time to the company, lending his expertise to projects where his leadership is most needed. From Wisconsin to Tampa, Florida, and now Montana, he has built strong relationships across McKinstry branches and with clients nationwide.

Of all the projects he has worked on, Mark finds the greatest reward in supporting rural K-12 schools. He is currently leading work at Winnett Public School in Montana, the only school in one of the state’s most rural counties.

“These districts are doing so much with so little, and they’re incredibly appreciative of the work we do. That’s what makes it so meaningful. We’re not just building systems, we’re helping create safe, comfortable environments for students and teachers who truly need it.”

For Mark, the work is about more than just problem solving on a job site. It is about the impact on clients, communities and teammates. His advice to those entering the field is simple:“Don’t get discouraged. Things will rarely go perfectly, but you need to stay the course and work through challenges together. Give yourself grace, give others grace and focus on building strong relationships. That’s how you make a lasting impact.”

After decades of service to both his country and McKinstry, Mark’s steady presence and field leadership remain invaluable. His journey reflects not only technical excellence but also a commitment to people and communities.

“McKinstry has been a wonderful company to work for. The culture here is genuine, and that’s why I’m still here.”
