We begin by conducting a thorough site evaluation, including a conceptual design and ROM budget for each site. We consider the physical and administrative constraints of the facility, including the site’s layout, projected EV use patterns, charging equipment requirements and utility incentive programs.
Our experience with charging projects of every scale allows us to objectively evaluate and integrate the most reliable and proven technologies without being tied to a single vendor or platform. We explicitly design projects to ensure that what we install is interoperable by design. This means that what we install today will not be a stranded asset as technology evolves and companies exit the market.
We manage and deliver complete engineering and pre-con scope. The design phase includes completion of formal construction drawings, utility engagement, permitting and final project budget.
We are a licensed general contractor with an in-house professional construction management team. McKinstry’s approach uses strong central program management, combined with our geographic coverage for site execution. We provide a single point of leadership in our National EV Infrastructure Team, while leveraging local teams in each region that oversee construction and on-site supervision.
Following substantial completion, each site undergoes a rigorous performance verification process to identify and resolve any issues that could impact charger functionality, safety or interoperability with vehicles.
