EV Charging Infrastructure

Delivering commercial charging solutions for mission-critical operations.
Feasibility Analysis & Strategic Planning

We begin by conducting a thorough site evaluation, including a conceptual design and ROM budget for each site. We consider the physical and administrative constraints of the facility, including the site’s layout, projected EV use patterns, charging equipment requirements and utility incentive programs.

Technology Selection & Procurement

Our experience with charging projects of every scale allows us to objectively evaluate and integrate the most reliable and proven technologies without being tied to a single vendor or platform. We explicitly design projects to ensure that what we install is interoperable by design. This means that what we install today will not be a stranded asset as technology evolves and companies exit the market.

Design & Permitting

We manage and deliver complete engineering and pre-con scope. The design phase includes completion of formal construction drawings, utility engagement, permitting and final project budget.

Construction

We are a licensed general contractor with an in-house professional construction management team. McKinstry’s approach uses strong central program management, combined with our geographic coverage for site execution. We provide a single point of leadership in our National EV Infrastructure Team, while leveraging local teams in each region that oversee construction and on-site supervision.

Commissioning

Following substantial completion, each site undergoes a rigorous performance verification process to identify and resolve any issues that could impact charger functionality, safety or interoperability with vehicles.

Our Approach

Our EV charging infrastructure projects include some of the largest and most complicated sites in the country. We employ a stage-gate process to execute EV projects across a portfolio of sites. This approach minimizes project risk and provides transparent deliverables for our clients.

Beyond Hardware Installation

McKinstry designs, builds, operates and maintains integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to power your mission-critical operations. We go beyond simple equipment installation. Our extensive experience in facility energy systems allows us to align your entire energy ecosystem – from power delivery to demand management to integrated solar and storage.

A Developer That Knows Ops

The difference between infrastructure that enables your vision and infrastructure that becomes a liability is having a trusted partner that can manage complexity at scale. Creativity and deep understanding of how your operations work is critical to success, whether your focus is transit vehicles, employee charging or serving the public. We are your trusted partner for comprehensive EV charging infrastructure at commercial scale.

National Leader; Local Delivery

McKinstry is a national leader focused on local impact. We understand local needs because we live in the communities we serve. At the same time, every project is backed by our national bench of construction, energy and facility optimization experts – not to mention one of our industry’s largest engineering teams.

Integrated Energy Systems

We enable our clients to integrate solar, battery storage and other renewable energy sources. The result reduces utility costs, provides backup power and engages your stakeholders for true buy-in.

Guaranteed Performance

Working together, we prioritize the outcomes you care most about, whether that’s vehicle uptime, charging reliability or energy cost management. After delivery, we stick around for ongoing monitoring to make sure the system performs. Simply put, guaranteed uptime and performance outcomes.

Electrify with Confidence

Action speaks louder than words. McKinstry stands committed to guiding your decarbonization goals. We have a proven history helping organizations electrify their fleet operations.
