Expanding Pharmaceutical Innovation in Spokane, WA
A major pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturer in Spokane, WA is nearing completion of a manufacturing facility expansion. This 160,000 sq. ft. line expansion follows a recent successful 50,000 sq. ft. expansion and marks the second phase of growth at the facility supported by McKinstry.
The manufacturer, a producer of ophthalmics, sterile injectables, lyophilized products and sterile ointments, required a mechanical partner with expertise in clean room systems and the ability to deliver specialized process piping including orbital welding. To meet these needs, McKinstry expanded its capabilities through targeted investments in orbital welding training and equipment.
In collaboration with UA Local 44, the project team also developed an orbital welding training program to support skilled labor needs, highlighting a shared commitment to quality and workforce development. Based on the outcomes of both projects, McKinstry was formally included in the client’s specifications for their mechanical work, a rare occurrence in the construction industry.
Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
