Kyra Hughes: Building Better Solutions Through A Broader Perspective
The best facility service solutions rarely come from a single perspective. They come from understanding how engineering, construction, technology and business intersect. Kyra Hughes, business development director for McKinstry Facility Services, has spent her career developing that understanding.
“Every step in my career has given me the opportunity to learn a new facet of our industry. Bringing those experiences together helps me ask better questions, understand what clients are trying to accomplish and develop solutions that create lasting value.”
Originally studying engineering, Kyra was drawn to the opportunity to help shape a construction industry that better supports both the built and natural environments. That passion led her through roles in commercial construction, building technologies, strategic sales and innovative building systems before joining McKinstry.
Today, that diverse background allows her to translate technical expertise into practical business solutions. Kyra brings clients into the process early using structured discovery sessions and collaborative planning to surface the operational, financial and sustainability priorities that should shape a facility strategy. The result is plans that extend the life of assets while staying grounded in what the organization is ultimately there to do.
For Kyra, transitioning into the service side of the industry was a natural progression. She enjoys pairing technical expertise with a people-centered approach – starting with a client’s mission and working backward to understand what their facilities need to do to support it. That means asking different questions than a typical service provider would, and developing solutions tied to outcomes clients actually care about.
“I love bringing people together to solve problems and expand what’s possible. Clients deserve a partner who is not only reliable but genuinely invested in helping them achieve more.”
By understanding the many factors that influence each client’s decisions, Kyra helps her team anticipate needs before they become problems. That often starts with a facility assessment giving clients a clear picture of where gaps exist and building the case for proactive investment. From there, McKinstry can deliver service that is comprehensive, proactive and sometimes predictive.
Looking ahead, Kyra is focused on deepening how McKinstry brings its full capabilities to bear for clients – connecting t with the company’s broader engineering, energy and facility operations expertise to deliver integrated solutions that no single service line could provide alone.
“Our teams deliver incredible work every day. But when we’re able to bring our diverse expertise together around a client’s goals, that’s when we create the greatest value.”
