McKinstry Manufacturing and Fabrication Capacity Surpasses 1 Million Square Feet Nationwide

Strategic expansion across Washington, Oregon and Texas strengthens capacity to deliver modular construction products nationwide with speed and scale.

McKinstry doubled its manufacturing and fabrication footprint nationwide, surpassing 1 million square feet of total facility space. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s continued investment in fabrication and offsite manufacturing (OSM) capabilities.

The expansion strengthens McKinstry’s ability to deliver modular construction products with speed and scale through a distributed growth strategy across Washington, Oregon and Texas. The result doubles the company’s existing modular construction product capacity while reinforcing its position as a national leader in designing, manufacturing, building, operating and maintaining high-performing built environments.

“Data centers and other critical environments are redefining what speed and scale mean for our industry. The demand for modular cooling plants and prefabricated mechanical systems is outpacing what traditional construction methods can deliver,” said Matt Wegworth, Senior Vice President for Modular Products at McKinstry. “Doubling our manufacturing and fabrication footprint allows us to bring more work into controlled environments, improving quality, accelerating schedules and helping clients achieve greater certainty on increasingly complex projects.”

Expanding Capacity Across Key Markets

The expansion supports McKinstry’s broader strategy to create a connected manufacturing network capable of serving projects across the United States more efficiently.

Key investments include:

Georgetown, Texas (Austin metro): A new 100,000-square-foot facility dedicated to offsite manufacturing of modular construction products. The facility is expected to be operational in early 2027 and will complement McKinstry’s existing fabrication shop in Hutto, Texas.

Pasco, Washington: A second 11,000 square-foot pipe fabrication shop with operations beginning in August 2026. The facility includes specialty, precision welding along with heavy metal fabrication capabilities.

Portland, Oregon: A second 21,000 square-foot high-purity pipe fabrication shop, expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026. The facility focuses on mechanical piping and fluid network systems for critical applications within McKinstry projects.

Spokane, Washington: A new 95,000 square-foot pipe fabrication shop next to McKinstry’s existing facility. Construction is underway now. Opening is anticipated in late 2027. The expansion also includes a second 185,000 square-foot offsite manufacturing facility adjacent to the existing facility to support expanded production capacity for McKinstry and Overcast Innovations.

Seattle, Washington: A new electrical pre-fabrication and assemblies space will be added to McKinstry’s Seattle campus. The additional space covers 11,000 square feet and increases electrical construction capacity across the region.
