Growing up in India, I was surrounded by diverse architecture ranging from vernacular buildings to glass skyscrapers. This piqued my curiosity of finding out “what governs building design.”
In a world of depleting resources and in writing my final year architecture thesis, I realized that utilizing daylighting, efficient envelope, rainwater harvesting and an energy-efficient HVAC design was a necessity in making a net-zero energy project sustainable.
I wanted to learn more about the engineering of buildings, and it led me to do my master’s in building science at the University of Oregon. Since then, I’ve been living my dream job of putting into practice all that I have learned by providing evidence-based design strategies to help McKinstry clients build healthy, energy-efficient and zero-carbon buildings.
