Griffin Small – Building Relationships, Growing Teams and Powering Projects Forward

Griffin Small joined McKinstry as a mechanical engineering intern and is now an electrical project manager leading complex projects and building trusted relationships that keep clients coming back. Drawn to numbers and problem-solving, he quickly realized it was the people side of construction that energized him. “I like being on site, talking with the field crews and figuring out solutions in real time,” he said.

After graduating, Griffin moved fully into the electrical team, rising from project engineer to senior project engineer and eventually into the project manager role two years ago. It was a transition that pushed his leadership and accountability. A defining moment in his growth was the multi-year electrical scope at the Muckleshoot Casino, which was a fast, complex project that strengthened his skills and deepened client relationships.

Griffin believes technical expertise matters, but trust makes work thrive. He values clear communication, strong partnerships and McKinstry’s collaborative culture. “Electrical works closely with mechanical, plumbing and low voltage,” he said. “That cross-discipline coordination sets us apart.”

Looking ahead, Griffin is motivated by the long-term opportunities within the electrical group and excited to help shape its future.
