McKinstry’s Everett Carr on Delivering Electrical Excellence

Based out of Spokane, Everett Carr serves as a Lead General Foreman for McKinstry’s electrical group, providing field leadership across complex projects throughout Eastern Washington and Idaho. In his role, Everett oversees electrical crews, coordinates work across multiple trades and ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently and in alignment with McKinstry’s quality standards.

As a senior field leader, Everett acts as a key link between project management teams and crews in the field. He supports planning, scheduling and execution while helping teams navigate challenges in real time. As the business continues to grow, Everett now partners with a recently appointed superintendent, while continuing to focus on driving consistency in the field and delivering reliable results for clients.

Everett’s path into the electrical industry began in a production plant environment, where he transitioned into maintaining automated equipment. Encouraged to continue his education, he earned an applied science degree in electrical maintenance and automation before entering the union apprenticeship program. He joined McKinstry in 2013 and has since supported projects across Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Everett says he stays at McKinstry because of its people and culture. He points to strong collaboration on multi-trade projects and consistent encouragement to grow as a leader. He also values McKinstry’s progressive mindset. “Construction is not always the most progressive industry,” Everett notes, “yet McKinstry continues to lead in renewable energy and sustainable solutions that are helping shape the future of the built environment.”

When Everett defines success in his role, safety comes first. “Success starts with everyone going home safely at the end of the day,” he said. “From there, it means consistently delivering quality work that builds trust with clients and reinforces McKinstry’s reputation for reliability and excellence.”

Throughout his career, Everett has contributed to many memorable projects. A data center for Puget Sound Energy in Cle Elum stands out as both challenging and rewarding. Another highlight was work at Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho. Everett supported electrical installation on the Pacific Northwest’s largest water coaster. The fast-paced project required adaptability, teamwork and problem-solving and reinforced Everett’s belief that “seeing a project go from a piece of paper to a finished space never gets old.”

For Everett, the most rewarding part of his work is building relationships. Whether with clients, coworkers or project partners, trust and collaboration are key to long-term success and often lead to repeat work and new opportunities.

When asked what he wants people to know about McKinstry’s electrical capabilities, Everett points to versatility and expertise. From power quality studies and energy analysis to healthcare, industrial, educational and commercial projects, McKinstry’s electrical teams bring deep technical knowledge and a client-focused approach. Everett believes that when people are supported and given the tools they need to succeed, they are motivated to deliver their best work and the results consistently speak for themselves.
