Denver Community Solar Garden: Abraham Lincoln High School
The City and County of Denver recently unveiled its new community solar garden in partnership with Denver Public Schools at Abraham Lincoln High School. A carport with EV charging infrastructure, the solar canopy is part of new community solar gardens across the city that are supporting Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency’s work to eliminate pollution and waste while investing in clean energy and resiliency. Constructed by McKinstry, the solar carport:
- Generates 235 kW of renewable energy.
- Provides shade and cooling during the summer months.
- Donates electricity to families in need of utility bill relief (managed by Energy Outreach Colorado).
Each project also delivers paid training opportunities for clean energy jobs, student internships and hands-on STEM opportunities.
