McKinstry Achieves Major Milestone with 100th Chevrolet Silverado EV

GM Envolve Supports McKinstry’s Commitment to Its Operations and Achieving a Fully Electric Vehicle Fleet

SEATTLE — McKinstry, a national leader in designing, constructing, operating and maintaining high-performing buildings, reached a major milestone on its path to a zero-tailpipe emissions fleet, taking delivery of its 100th Chevrolet Silverado electric vehicle (EV). With a total of 114 electric vehicles now in operation—including a mix of Chevrolet Silverado EV, Blazer EV, Equinox EV and BrightDrop 600 and 400 vans—the company is making big strides toward its goal of full fleet electrification.

This achievement is part of McKinstry’s broader Action for Impact initiative, a commitment to eliminate tailpipe emissions, improve affordability and advance equity as McKinstry drives systemic change in the built environment.

“McKinstry is putting EVs into action,” said Joseph Hagar, President and Chief Financial Officer for McKinstry. “Each EV advances innovation on our jobsites. These are more than trucks, SUVs and vans—they’re mobile workstations driving real impact.”

Nearly three-quarters of McKinstry’s EV fleet is currently being utilized in the field, mostly among plumbers, electricians and sheet metal technicians. Each vehicle is upfitted to meet the demands of specific trade work. From heavy-duty toolboxes and bed slides that double as workstations to available onboard power systems capable of running certain tools, the EVs are setting a new standard for how electric technology can support construction professionals in the field.

“GM Envolve is proud to support innovative customers like McKinstry as they set a new standard for operations in construction and facilities management,” said Ian Hucker, Vice President for GM Envolve. “The Chevrolet Silverado EV provides the performance and advanced technology our customers demand, while helping to enhance fleet efficiency. Delivering their 100th Silverado EV to McKinstry represents not only a milestone for their organization, but also a step forward for the entire industry as we collectively work toward a zero emissions future.”

Electric vehicles are currently deployed across McKinstry operations in Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Texas. The company is installing extensive EV chargers at its facilities across the country and exploring innovative solutions for offsite charging. As charging infrastructure expands, McKinstry plans to accelerate its EV footprint nationwide.

“Our employees love the transition to EVs and we’re pushing to bring the industry along with us,” added Hagar.
