McKinstry Grows in Arkansas with New Little Rock Office

McKinstry to grow Arkansas workforce and client services as part of national expansion

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 21, 2019) — McKinstry strengthened its presence in Arkansas with the opening of a permanent office in Little Rock. The new Little Rock office allows McKinstry to better serve clients in Arkansas while also providing a strategic location to expand its workforce.

McKinstry serves multiple Arkansas clients with a focus on energy efficiency projects, renewable energy development and consulting. The company is a pre-qualified energy service company under the Arkansas Energy Performance Contracting (AEPC) program. Energy performance contracting is a financing mechanism used to pay for energy improvements all at once that are then paid back through annual energy savings. The Arkansas Energy Office (AEO) offers performance contracting assistance to state agencies, institutions of higher learning, municipalities, and counties. The program will expand to include K-12 public school districts starting July 24, 2019.

“The Arkansas Energy Performance Contracting program delivers real public benefit. It not only reduces energy and operating costs, but also improves building health and safety for workers and communities,” said Becky W. Keogh, Director of Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. “Twenty-one projects have been executed to date with a total contract value of $102.5 million that guarantee nearly $150 million in energy savings. Those figures are expected to double by the end of 2019.”

McKinstry recently completed construction and energy retrofits on multiple Sebastian County buildings as part of a $5.1 million energy performance contract administered under the AEPC program. The project will reduce Sebastian County’s energy and operating costs by $344,000 each year.

“The energy retrofit projects provided Sebastian County with more efficient HVAC and lighting systems, which results in reduced energy costs across our buildings,” said Sebastian County Judge David Hudson. “The utility savings allowed Sebastian County to finance the improvements as payment for the loan.”

“The entire State of Arkansas benefits from AEPC and other energy projects, creating jobs while saving taxpayer dollars currently spent on outdated and inefficient systems,” said Katie Laning Niebaum, Executive Director of the Arkansas Advanced Energy Association. “For every dollar invested in an AEPC project, three dollars are returned to the Arkansas economy. Local energy service companies like McKinstry provide high-paying jobs and use local contractors to perform work. In total, approximately 9,000 Arkansas jobs are tied to energy equipment and services.”
