H&M Harborview JV Selected for Harborview Medical Center's Bond Project
Hermanson and McKinstry partner as OneTeam as the official mechanical and plumbing design-build partner for Harborview Medical Center expansion
H&M Harborview JV, LLC (H&M), a joint venture between McKinstry and Hermanson, has been selected as the mechanical and plumbing design-build partner for Harborview Medical Center’s facility and infrastructure improvements through the Harborview Bond Program. This transformational bond initiative will support Harborview’s mission as the Pacific Northwest’s top Level I adult and pediatric trauma center.
The project is part of Harborview’s long-term investment in modernizing and expanding its campus to better serve King County’s most vulnerable populations while advancing long-term goals for resilience, sustainability and equity. Working as OneTeam, H&M is responsible for the delivery of high-performance mechanical and plumbing systems for the future patient care tower, essential service renovations to support the new tower and associated infrastructure upgrades — all within an active, 24/7 health care environment.
“H&M brings unmatched experience on the Harborview campus, paired with a design-build approach that prioritizes collaboration, cost certainty and operational continuity,” said Paul Robinett, president of Hermanson Company LLC and principal in charge for H&M Harborview JV. “Our team members have deep ties to this community, which makes this project especially meaningful.”
With a combined history of nearly 400 projects across the Harborview campus, H&M’s team brings extensive institutional knowledge of existing infrastructure, utilities and operational requirements. That experience will inform early design decisions, system performance strategies and phased construction planning to minimize disruptions to patient care.
“Our role is about more than delivering mechanical systems. It’s about being a trusted partner to Harborview’s facilities and clinical and operations teams,” McKinstry Executive Vice President Mark Jonson said. “We’re proud to contribute innovative, low-carbon and maintainable solutions that support Harborview’s lifesaving work today and for generations to come.”
The Harborview Bond Program is being delivered in close collaboration with Mortenson, Perkins & Will, UW Medicine and King County, supported by H&M’s Seattle-based preconstruction team and local fabrication facilities.
“This project reflects a shared commitment to the community and to doing the work the right way,” Robinett added. “We are honored to help advance Harborview’s legacy of care.”
