Jennifer Koch holds the critical role of director of Operations for our Service line of business, making sure our Service technicians are deployed strategically at thousands of different job sites and well-supported in their important work with our clients. Jennifer started her career with McKinstry and having grown up with the business, she remembers when her “day in the life” was a little bit like her employee, Service Technician Cameron Bowers — when she was new to McKinstry (and the industry) and tackling and overcoming challenges she’d never faced before.

“Cameron did her homework when she interviewed with us. She came in with a binder that was filled with projects she’s accomplished to show that she had hands-on experience. She was inspired by her dad to enter the field and we’re so glad she did,” said Jennifer.

“Growing up, I was always my dad’s shadow,” said Cameron. “We did a lot of hands-on projects together, and I used to sit with him in his Saturday classes at the local technical college where he was studying HVAC. He found so much joy in the work, and it really inspired me to take the leap and follow in his footsteps.”

When Jennifer entered the industry, she was often the only woman in the room. Today, as more women like Cameron enter the trades, Jennifer is even more excited about all the possibilities available for women in our business and the trades to succeed and shine. She’s also one of Cameron’s biggest fans, who she says is an inspiration every day.

“Cameron is awesome. She represented McKinstry at a recent career fair where she shared her positive, infectious attitude with everyone she met,” said Jennifer. “Even a longtime journeyman shared that being around Cameron brings a fresh excitement about the trade.”
