Get to Know Sales Associate Intern Annie Wright
Annie is currently working as a sales associate intern in our Seattle office and is a part of our B.L.U.E summer experience! Annie completed her undergraduate at the University of Washington and recently earned her MBA from Seattle University. This summer Annie has been working with our Platform Construction Sales team learning about the purpose and function of the team and understanding McKinstry’s diverse construction offerings.

Learn More About Annie’s Experience
I’m originally from Seattle, Washington, just a short drive from McKinstry’s office. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Washington, majoring in Political Science. Afterward, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where I spent the 2020-2021 school year teaching high school social studies to over 200 students at a low-income school in Fulton County, GA. My initial plan was to attend law school and become an attorney, but I had a change of heart. I decided to transition into the business world because I wanted a career that allowed me to tap into my creativity and foster connections with a diverse community of people. In August, I earned my MBA from Seattle University, and I’m delighted to be a part of McKinstry’s 2023 Summer Internship Program. During my job search, I was drawn to McKinstry’s mission and outstanding reputation in the industry. Starting my career at a company that prioritizes people is essential to me, and I look forward to the opportunity to build my career at such an amazing company!
I’m currently working as a Sales Associate Intern with McKinstry’s Platform Construction Sales team at the Seattle office. The Platform team plays a pivotal role within the company by offering crucial support for key opportunities, striving for sales excellence across 13 business units, helping in business development efforts, and offering comprehensive support for general sales activities across the construction line of business.
This summer, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the planning of McKinstry’s 2023 PNW Construction Sales Retreat. This experience has provided me with valuable insights into the purpose and function of the Platform Sales team within the company, as well as a deeper understanding of McKinstry’s diverse construction offerings. Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate closely with and learn from some exceptional individuals, including Joan Smith, Marco Navlet, and Julian Allen.
My internship has offered me an incredible chance to put my education into practice and align my career goals more closely with the dynamic business environment within the industry. My experience this summer has truly opened my eyes to the world of possibilities that a career in the construction industry can offer and I am looking forward to seeing what’s next on my horizon. Most importantly, I’ve learned just how important it is to work at a company that values their people and the planet.
What truly excites me about McKinstry’s mission is their unwavering commitment to enhancing the efficiency and environmental sustainability of buildings across the country. Given the urgency of the climate crisis, McKinstry’s dedication to this cause is both inspiring and necessary. My experience at McKinstry has led me to reflect upon the significance of being part of a company that actively strives to enhance the well-being of the communities it serves.
