The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our Midwest Energy division. In this role, you will develop and manage large and complex regional projects. You will also closely collaborate with business development efforts, field, and other business units to successfully obtain work that aligns with McKinstry capabilities and business plans.  Additional responsibilities include:

Operations and people management

  • Ensures continuity, quality risk mitigation and profitability through all project cycles.
  • Works with new and existing clients to develop new projects and to negotiate significant changes to existing projects.
  • Manages procedures for selecting equipment for the projects. 
  • Manage proactive staffing which compares project and assignments to a roster of resources. 
  • Take responsibility for proactive view of upcoming work and communicating that to all of the interested downstream partners.
  • Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to organize and schedule post job analysis when jobs are completed.
  • Trains, mentors and manages staff in affective tactics to attain team goals.
  • Create performance plans, assess performance and provide performance feedback.

Sales & business development support  

  • Responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial results.
  • Negotiates with executives on project deliverables and financial expectations.
  • Available to sales/estimating for manpower options and strategies.
  • Attend client meetings, interviews and events as needed.
  • Take on pursuits and budgeting exercises as assigned. 

What you Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of industry experience.
  • 7+ years of project management experience.
  • 7+ years of experience leading people with a high standard of excellence.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Proficient in forecasting and managing cost types.

The pay range for this position is $114,210- $174,610 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
