The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are adding a Senior Director of Risk and Preconstruction Management Services to our nationally growing Energy and Technical Services team. In this role, you will oversee the Risk Management program and our preconstruction management services while assuring effective use across the life-cycle of a project to include our sales, development, preconstruction, and delivery phases. You will be a liaison and collaborate with our Legal/Contracts team and our E&TS team to assure risk identifications are made part of the client-McKinstry contract. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Drive consistent, common delivery of our Risk Management program to enable high quality, profitable project outcomes across our business.
  • Develop, evolve, and maintain our set of processes, tools, templates, and training for consistently performing risk mitigation, high quality preconstruction and estimating activities on projects.
  • Provide coaching and training across the regions throughout the US to support risk mitigation and preconstruction objectives and goals in alignment with our visions.
  • Engage with project teams on projects deemed high-risk as part of the monthly High Risk Review Meetings with the intent to lower and eliminate risk.
  • Provide direct support where appropriate on large-scale, high risk, and key account projects.
  • Coach teams across business units in the areas of direct labor and director cost estimating, scope of work writing and bid package assembly, as well as site walks and subcontractor bid walks best practices.
  • Track and report out on metrics specific to the use and effectiveness of our Risk Management Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • 10+ years of experience in the Built Environment industry.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Management degree, or other relevant degree required.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Project Engineer, Construction/Project Manager, Estimator, Risk Manager, or relevant experience.

The pay range for this position is $157,900 - $240,100 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
