The Opportunity with McKinstry

As the Business Development Leader, you will develop and execute a sales plan for identifying appropriate project opportunities for our Energy Services team.  You will lead the Energy sales team based in the Portland office and be directly responsible for the K-12 sales efforts for that area. 

  • Manage the sales process from opportunity, targeting through booking and transition to operations.
  • Create vertical market development plans; make recommendations regarding actions, including cooperative selling efforts.
  • Leverage relationship management and needs-based selling skills to provide clients with a consultative sales process.
  • Identify and participate in trade shows, social media and web conferences.
  • Create speaking opportunities at organizations conferences and web platforms.
  • Manage the development and delivery of our Energy program in the Oregon market.
  • Coach and develop sales professionals.
  • Train, mentor and manage staff in affective tactics to attain team goals.
  • Create performance plans, assess performance and provide performance feedback.
  • Manage the Account Executive and Senior Account Executive to ensure the successful achievement of business goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Senior Account Executive.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management or equivalent business experience required.
  • Experience in financial/performance contracting required.
  • Seven (7) years of experience of financial/performance contracting experience including previous leadership, sales, and marketing with an energy services or related organization, with responsibilities for identifying leads, closing sales, and providing oversight to a project implementation team.

The pay range for this position is $114,210 - $183,255 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
