Our work consists of professional services wins and support of internal clients – large new construction (Majors), Special Projects, Energy Services, and McKinstry new development.


Here's where you come in: 

We are seeking a Lead PV Engineer  to join our expanding Engineering and Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Energy, Construction, and National Renewables teams in development of PV projects across the country. 


You're great at:

  • Providing high-quality designs and calculations for commercial and utility scale renewable energy and distributed generation projects with minimal training
  • Providing design drawings, including but not limited to one-line and three-line diagrams, electrical layouts, AC/DC schematics, AC/DC cable schedule, wiring diagrams, grounding, trenching, and conduit details
  • Feasibility studies, designs, and coordination for interconnection with existing building electrical services, campus medium voltage primary services, and utility distribution systems per utility and AHJ’s requirements. 
  • Reviewing project documents for code compliance and quality assurance
  • Developing new techniques and/or improve design processes, including development of design standards
  • Training staff engineers
  • Coordinating and collaborating with clients, customers, Authority Having Jurisdictions (AHJs), contractors, utilities, and others as required
  • Continuing education and increased knowledge of PV system components and participating in creating equipment specifications, review and/or selection of solar equipment and materials, including but not limited to; solar modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transformers, cable management systems and balance of systems (BOS)
  • Supporting projects during the construction phase by responding to RFIs, submittals and performing site visits as required
  • Ensurong compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional standards, practices, codes


What we would like to see from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical and PV engineering
  • Proficiency in design and drafting utilizing Revit and other design softwares
  • Knowledge of design of BESS systems preferred
  • Professional Engineering Licensure or ability to obtain preferred
  • Ability to understand power systems studies concepts for arc flash, short circuit, coordination, underground cable thermals, grounding, and relevant studies is preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Efficient time management – handle multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision, including prioritizing, organizing, and planning effectively to meet all deadlines
