Ensuring the health and happiness of our employees is a top priority at McKinstry. That’s why we offer robust medical coverage through two health plans, to allow our employees to choose what works best for them, their spouses/domestic partners and their families. Both plans provide comprehensive care, from basic office visits to acupuncture and naturopathy. The Prime Plan has no deductible and low out-of-pocket maximums, while the Basic Plan provides excellent coverage with low premiums for employees and reasonable premiums for family members. Both plans include retail and money-saving mail order prescription drug coverage.
Our vision plan covers deductible-free annual eye exams and a competitive reimbursement towards vision hardware. To help our employees and families maintain healthy smiles, we offer a dental plan with full coverage for routine exams and cleanings, and unlike most employers’ plans, our orthodontia coverage includes children and adults.
For expenses not covered by our health plans, employees have the option to pay for out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars through Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Employees can save approximately 25 percent of each dollar spent on these expenses by participating in the FSA.
When The Unexpected Occurs
Personal issues, planning for life events or simply managing daily life can affect your work, health and family. That’s why McKinstry offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides resources and information for personal and work-life issues. Confidential counseling, financial information, legal consultation and discounted fees, and an around-the-clock nurse hotline are all covered by our EAP.

We’re hard workers at McKinstry, but we also recognize the value of fun. That’s why we actively promote work/life balance and healthy lifestyles through our Wellness Program. Several of our offices have onsite workout facilities that employees can join. For those offices that don’t, employees are eligible for monthly reimbursements toward fitness center memberships.
Building A Secure Tomorrow, Today
Through our 401(k) and Profit Sharing Plan, we help our employees reach their retirement goals and secure their financial futures. Our 401(k) plan includes a generous employer match, with no vesting schedule and multiple investment options. Our profit-sharing contributions are an added benefit driven by the company’s profitability; employees can direct those funds to the same investment options chosen for the 401(k).
We also provide insurance to cover the unexpected and to ease transitions resulting from life events. Long-term disability, life insurance, and accidental death & dismemberment insurance provide financial stability for our employees and their families, with no premiums. We also provide voluntary short term disability and voluntary life insurance, which may be purchased for individual and family coverage.
Support for Families
Caring for those we love is important. McKinstry helps employees support their families in several ways, in addition to the health and financial benefits described above.
- Mommies 2-B: This program helps expecting mothers better understand and manage their pregnancy. Participants receive an educational packet, newsletters and access to a team of registered nurses and other ancillary staff, available by phone and email.
- Income Replacement and Paid Parental Leaves: Our voluntary short-term disability insurance provides up to 60 percent income replacement for expectant moms during periods of medical disability. Maternity/Primary Care Leave covers six weeks of paid leave for mothers, and Parental/Secondary Care Leave covers two weeks of paid leave for fathers or secondary care givers.
- Return to Work Program: The Return to Work program is intended to ease the transition back to work after the birth or adoption of a child by providing an opportunity to work a reduced schedule, for a defined period of time. This program is available to mothers (or when appropriate, primary caregivers) who are regular, full-time employees and have worked at McKinstry for at least one year.
- Care Advantage by Bright Horizons: Back-up Care Advantage offers urgent or planned back-up child care, including sick child care and back-up/unexpected caregiving for adults or elders. Care Direct is an online database of child/elder care providers, household services, pet care referrals and priority access and discounts for Bright Horizons’ child care centers.
Time Away To Play
Striking a healthy balance between work and play is essential to personal fulfillment. This is why we encourage our employees to plan for time away from work to re-energize and enjoy their hobbies and activities. We offer paid time off to cover planned and unplanned absences. We also have several paid holidays throughout the year and one floating holiday. These benefits are available to full-time employees. Where applicable by local law, part time employees may accrue and use Sick/Safe leave.
McKinstry is committed to providing employees with opportunities to learn, so they can excel at their jobs and develop and grow with us. We encourage our employees to continue their professional and personal development through McKinstry University by participating in professional, technical, and personal development seminars, classes, and programs. Professional development includes both formal and informal activities, planning, as well as professional memberships and designations which are supported by the organization.
The McKinstry Foundation
The McKinstry Charitable Foundation was established in 1999 to formalize charitable giving in the communities where we live and work. Our core value of community involvement is expressed through our purposeful focus on both volunteering for and giving to efforts that nurture children, support education, and provide for a sustainable, thriving planet.
The foundation funds two employee programs: employee-directed giving and the Pillar Program. Each year, every eligible employee has the opportunity to direct funds to a registered non-profit organization of their choice. Over the years, employees have directed nearly $1.5 million to charities across the United States. The Pillar Program connects philanthropic giving with employee volunteerism. Groups of employees who volunteer with organizations that align with one of the foundation’s giving priorities are eligible for grants that go directly to the organization. This program is open to all employees in all regions.
