Department of Ecology

The Department of Ecology (DoE) is headquartered in a 323,000 sq.ft. building and comprised of multiple programs that work as individual business units and also as one comprehensive agency within the Washington State Government. McKinstry’s relationship with the DoE began with the construction of the headquarters for which McKinstry subcontracted mechanical services to the general contractor. We have been there For the Life of the Building, as an active facility services and maintenance provider since the building’s inception in the early 1990s, aiding the DoE in a variety of energy use reduction and sustainability projects. These projects include:

  • LEED Silver Certification
  • Energy Audits, Performance Contracting, and Retro-commissioning
  • Improvement of Indoor Air Quality and McKinstry’s Knowledge Response Center
