The Caldwell School District has engaged McKinstry for two different projects - ESPC and New Construction.

Th ESPC project was part of a comprehensive program envisioned by the Caldwell School District to partner with McKinstry to implement a new standard for energy efficiency and high-performance schools in Idaho, using a performance-based integrated design and delivery methodology.

McKinstry implemented significant district-wide energy conservation measures for Caldwell School District by improving its lighting, ventilation, mechanical, and temperature control. The improvements not only generate major energy savings for the school district but provide a healthier, safer, and more comfortable learning environment for all the school occupants.

This project will save the District over $6M in cost-avoided energy and operational savings over the next twenty years. Additionally, this project qualified for approximately $250,000 in utility conservation incentives.

The new construction project consisted of two new design/build 70,000 sq. ft. elementary schools and a 62,000 sq. ft. building to be remodeled. The new construction portions of this project were LEED Silver or better and needed to use a minimum of 30% less energy than National Energy Code requirements. McKinstry was responsible for every facet of the project and worked in conjunction with the school district to select the integrated design team. The remodel portion of this contract involved redesigning and remodeling an existing elementary school that was in need of a major facility upgrade. This school would later be converted into a combination school district headquarters and alternative high school.
