University of Washington - Research & Technology
The University of Washington Research and Technology lab is a six-story multi-use laboratory with two stories of parking. McKinstry was hired to provide sheet metal, plumbing, piping, and sprinklers. RODI water, gas, vacuum, compressed air, nitrogen, tempered water, and lab water services are available to all spaces via a central utilities rack. Special features include LEED Gold Certification, DBOM (design, build, operate and maintain) delivery method/contract, and flexible laboratory shell and core construction, with significant lab services expansion capability. Mechanical special features include a 100% OSA air handling system with hydronic run-around loop heat recover. And RODI water, gas, vacuum, compressed air, nitrogen, tempered water, and lab water services are available to all spaces via a central utilities rack.
The project received the following awards: (1) LEED Gold, (2) Design Build Project of the Year for 2006, and (3) a 2007 BIM Award for "Design/Delivery Process Innovation Using BIM.”
