Moses Lake Data Center
A major search engine company was looking to expand its non-critical data center capacity to increase the quality of service they provide. McKinstry was hired as the General Contractor and self-performed the mechanical, electrical, data, start-up, commissioning, and transitional services. McKinstry remodeled the raised-floor, 8,800 sq. ft. data center within the TiTAN building into a low cost, high density data center. The TiTAN building is a decommissioned military facility located in Moses Lake, Washington. McKinstry was later asked to complete the Facility Management services for this site as well.
Special features include a high density data center featuring 355+ watts/sq. ft. Mechanical special features include four evaporative coolers ducted to the data center. The data center was designed with hot aisle/cold aisles to allow each server to pass cool air through one time and exhaust the heated air generated by each server, providing both a reduced first cost and long term cost for the facility.
