City of Brooklyn Park Ice Arena

McKinstry is working with the City of Brooklyn Park Minnesota on a ground breaking geothermal project that will provide a more efficient cooling method for two of its popular ice rinks, save 60,000 in energy costs, and cut energy expenditures by 50%.  After removing the arena’s old systems, McKinstry will run untreated well water from the city through underground pipes where it will cool off in a heat exchanger.  Heat resulting from the cooling process will be recycled to keep the arena warm. This makes the arena the most efficient in North America.
