Blue Mountain Community College
McKinstry completed a number of shovel-ready projects at the Pendleton campus and its five centers (BMCC Boardman, BMCC Hermiston, and BMCC Milton-Freewater). Together with a contracting team made up of talent pulled from local subcontractors, McKinstry performed energy-audits in all the buildings to identify the best opportunities for energy-savings.
McKinstry and the team also collaborated to design and complete all major electrical upgrades; replace and relocate wiring/panel for the secondary electrical systems throughout the Pendleton campus; and to replace the outdated electrical distribution system/components directly related to safety, reliability, and efficiency. Additional enhancements included exterior lighting upgrades; HVAC equipment and system upgrades across the BMCC Pendleton campus; and pool lighting upgrades at the McCrae Activity Center.
McKinstry self-performed the engineering, design, and the majority of the HVAC energy related work guaranteed its energy savings projects, and also worked to grow Blue Mountain’s stimulus award $2 million received as part of the Go Oregon! State stimulus package to $3 million by leveraging tax credits and other financial incentives. McKinstry’s subcontractors handled the electrical, fire life safety, and security portion of the project which ensured that all generated revenue would remain in the Pendleton community. In all, these projects supported estimated 50 – 60 jobs.
