McKinstry built a wood chip storage facility, installed a biomass boiler, and made upgrades to a boiler room in Boise County’s Garden Valley School. The new $11 million facility, which celebrated its grand opening August, 2009 is currently the largest in Boise County. McKinstry worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to secure $3 million in funding via the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act to convert the school heating system into a biomassâfueled plant utilizing locally acquired wood chips. The project has been guaranteed by McKinstry through a performance contract to save both cost and energy.
