Construction, energy and facility services expert to provide Geothermal heat at 8 Blaine County Schools
Boise, ID (5/28/10) –McKinstry, an expert in energy conservation, facility services and high-performance integrated design-build, has been named “The Best Place to Work in Idaho” for companies employing up to 50 people in the State. McKinstry has two Idaho offices: one in Boise located at 950 West Bannock Street, and another in Moscow.
McKinstry takes pride in putting people first, fostering a positive company culture that places a premium on stability, communication, employee development, families and community. The company’s vertically integrated suite of services, which emphasize sustainable energy, infrastructure and economic development, has enabled it to grow and prosper, even through challenging economic times. Utilizing local resources, labor and people is McKinstry’s fundamental commitment to each community it serves, a practice that provides broad economic benefits in those areas where the company does business, including Blaine County.
This dedication to community dovetails perfectly with McKinstry’s company mission to design and build superior facilities and maintain them throughout a structure’s life cycle. The company has provided safer, healthier, and more productive learning and work environments across an array of sectors in Idaho for K-12, higher education, industrial, health care and municipal clients. Since 2007, McKinstry’s work in Idaho has included almost $90 million dollars in energy services and integrated design-build construction.
The company’s latest project involves a $16 million energy saving performance contract with the Blaine County School District. This summer, McKinstry will begin installing approximately 200 – 300 ground source heat pumps throughout eight Blaine County school facilities - Hailey Elementary, Bellevue Elementary, Carey School, Cary Gymnasium, Wood River Elementary, the Community Campus Building, and the District Support Services Building. Other energy conservation and facility improvement measures are also planned - including heating and ventilation system retrofits, lighting, and technology improvements, among other measures. The project is expected to be completed by fall of 2011.
McKinstry has already recruited a handful of local designers and subcontractors for the project, and in the next few weeks, RFPs will go out for the rest of the prospective project team. The push to ensure that its team is overwhelmingly comprised of local talent is just one way McKinstry demonstrates commitment to the community that sustains it, ensuring that revenues stay in Idaho and help to strengthen the local economy.
Other recent projects McKinstry has completed in the state have included work at Caldwell School District, Garden Valley School District, University of Idaho, and Salmon School District – to name a few. In addition, the McKinstry team has succeeded in obtaining over $7 million in grants for Idaho clients.
