When completed this campus included two 3-story office buildings
(150,000 square feet each), two level parking structures under both office buildings as well as two additional separate parking structures. The covered areas in parking included ventilation fans. The office buildings have chilled water air handling units located in the
basement that serve the VAV system. The VAV system uses gas fire boilers and hot water piping for morning warm-up. All perimeter VAV’s and interior VAV (1st floor only) have electric coils. There
is a 65,000 square foot Data Center building using raised floor and N+1 redundancy. The Data Center uses centralized air handling units on the roof penthouse to distribute cooling into the duct system. The ducts feed into the raised floor area. A new cafeteria with full cooking, servery and seating areas
were added onto an existing building already on site. An extensive remodel
was done on the Region building and a minor remodel was done on the Service building.
The project team had been using a consulting engineering firm to do the design and late in the design phase, they decided to change their course. McKinstry was awarded the project as a full design build format on January 1, 1998 and a set of permit documents (165 sheets + specs) were produced by February 3, 1998. |
