This project was a campus expansion that consists of two office
buildings (490,000 square feet in one 5-story building, and one
4-story building) with a separate 25,000 square foot full service
cafeteria and two separate parking garages. The mechanical system consists of a central chiller plant
(2,500-tons of cooling in 3 chillers and 2 cooling towers) that pump the chilled water to the rooftop AHU chilled water coils. Air is supplied from the rooftop AHU’s to fan powered VAV boxes (not that the perimeter boxes have electric heat). Café system is made up of a multi-zone AHU with hot and cold deck. The chilled water originates at the chiller plant and the heating water source is via gas-fired boilers. Please note that the chilled water pumping scheme consists of primary, secondary and tertiary pumps. There are stand-by pumps for the condenser and chilled water.
The fire protection systems on this project included dry and wet systems as well as a pre-action system. A fire pump was also installed in building 34. The fire protection systems was CAD designed to coordinate perfectly with the other trades on the job and avoid any and all possible conflicts.
Other special systems for this project include 2,000-gallon fuel tank for and emergency generator (our work includes the installation of the exhaust piping and radiator duct), CO control of garage exhaust fans, atrium smoke exhaust fans, split systems for elevator machine room cooling. |
