This project is a co-location computer room facility to serve tenants in hosting their business servers and networks with direct communication links around the world. This critical environment facility features
65,000 square feet of computer room area and accommodates very high-density heat gain (50-watts/sf throughout) with 24x7 coverage (HVAC infrastructure was sized for a future 80-watts/sf). The project includes full UPS Battery backup systems,
10,000 square foot support areas and a dedicated separate generator building with full acoustical treatments.
The mechanical systems include 1,600-tons of air-cooled chillers/pumps and six 110,000-cfm chilled water built-up air handling units all sized of N+1 backup. Humidity control is delivered through an evaporative humidification system at each air-handling unit (which can also be utilized for back-up cooling). The fire protection includes three pre-action zones for the server areas and a dedicated wet system for the office support areas.
The project was of a fast-track nature with only five months to install the systems with a one month commissioning duration. Intense mechanical coordination was required to install the various mechanical systems in conjunction with other trades in “tight” spaces as allowed by the existing building. |
