This project was a remodel of an existing laboratory in order to add a BL-3 facility as well as several additional labs. This project also included the installation of Bio-Safety Cabinets, DI Water Piping, Vacuum, Compressed Air, Nitrogen, Lab Sinks and Eyewashes. Bag-in/bag-out HEPA filter modules were added for filtering the BL-3 contaminated exhaust. The room pressure control and monitoring was a high priority on this project.
The Lake Union – Rosen Remodel was completed on time and under budget even though it had a complex scope of work with a compressed design and construction schedule. The BL-3 suites are very sensitive research labs with critical requirements for pressurization control and exhaust filtration. A high level of quality and functionality was designed into the system and a stringent control system design was put in place to monitor and control the BL-3 systems. The big reward on this project was the satisfaction of providing the owner with a quality laboratory in an existing building that had limited shaft and mechanical penthouse space.
