Though founded in 1960, McKinstry has a history dating back to 1934. The company was formed by George Allen and Merrill McKinstry as a result of the untimely death of W.E. Beggs Company owner William Beggs. As the two remaining company executives, McKinstry and Allen quickly secured the nucleus of their firm and reopened as partners in McKinstry Company in June of 1960. The new company got off to a quick start as many long time clients remained loyal to their relationships with our founding partners. Within a few short years McKinstry had established its own reputation as one of the leading mechanical contractors in the region, a position it clearly holds to this day. Like virtually all of the mechanical contractors of the 1960’s, McKinstry originated as a plumbing and piping services firm. However, over the following decade McKinstry added sheet metal (HVAC), fire protection and temperature controls to its core capabilities and pioneered the design build method of mechanical construction. McKinstry now enjoys its position as the leading "full service" mechanical contractor in the Pacific Northwest, with annual sales in the $100,000,000 range. We employ some 650 staff and field technicians who help deliver a wide range of services including mechanical construction, engineering, architectural metal, maintenance and facility management to our many clients. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington with branch facilities in Portland, Oregon, we offer our design build and facility services throughout the Northwest. Vision Mission Values
