Ask.com was looking to expand its non-critical data center capacity to increase the quality of service they provide. McKinstry was hired as the General Contractor and self performed the mechanical, electrical, data, start-up, commissioning and transitional services. McKinstry remodeled the existing raised floor 8,800 sf data center within the TiTAN building into a low cost high density data center. The TiTAN building is a decommissioned military facility located in Moses Lake, Washington. McKinstry was later asked to complete the Facility Management services for this site as well.
Special features include a high density data center, 355+ watts/sq ft. Mechanical special features include four evaporative coolers ducted to the data center. The data center was designed with hot aisle/cold aisles to allow each server to pass cool air through one time and exhaust the heated air generated by each server. This provided both a reduced first cost and long term cost for the facility.
